Clutchy Hopkins - The Life of Clutchy Hopkins (2006)

Alright, now this release is from a few years back from this mysterious musician by the absurd name of Clutchy Hopkins. Who knows where the name came from..and he's reported to live in the Mojave Desert? Weird shit. No one knows his indentity for sure, but what they do know is he makes some dope music. Real chill and dope instrumentals. Think of it DJ Shadow..but with live instruments. He's dropped an album with MF Doom back a year or so. Don't sleep with this cat. Ignore the track titles (or duration that is).

Elzhi - EuroPass (2008)

Released this year as a tour CD in Europe, this has got to be the best album i've heard this year. It's really dope, and hard to believe this isn't even his full album due out real soon. Elzhi, part of Slum Village, is a cat with mad charisma. He talks about real shit and his word play is insane. All of these tracks are straight fire, no doubt. Check out "Talkin' In My Sleep", fucking crazy idea. My favorite is "That's That One" featuring production by my man Black Milk. Don't sleep!

K-Otix - Universal (2001)

Group straight out of Houston, Texas, K-Otix goes unnoticed in the rap game. The MCs are Micah and Damien, while Russell "The ARE" Gonzalez handles the DJing. I hadn't heard of them until about 2 weeks ago when I stumbled upon their album. Got great feedback so I decided to download it...great decision. With a more aggressive east-coast vibe to it, this album hits hard but maintains thoughtful lyrics. Straight up ill. Don't miss it.
